Creating Sampling Systems

  1. From the SmartSolve Portal Page, click the Home tab.
  2. In the Setup and Policy section, click Setup.
  3. In the Inspection Management section, click Sampling System.
    Result: The Sampling System window is displayed.
  4. At the top of the page, click the Add New Record link.
    Result: The Sampling System entry window is displayed.
  5. Enter the information in the following fields:
Field Description

Sampling System*

Enter the code of the sampling system.

Sampling System Name*

Enter the name of the sampling system.

Default State*

Click the drop down button and select the default state of the sample. Options include:

  • NORMAL
  • REDUCED
  • TIGHTEN
  • STOCK
  • STOP

Switching Rule

Switching rules specify when the state of the inspection changes due to the results of inspections of successive lots or batches. Click the Add Switching Rule link to add a switching rule to the sampling system. Enter the information in the following Switching Rule section fields:

  • Current State - Click the drop down button and select the current state of the samples in the sampling system. For additional information on configuration, see Default States.
  • Sampling Plan - Click the drop down button and select the name of the sampling plan.
  • Skip Lot? - Specify whether or not Skip Lot logic will be applied for the rule.
  • No - Consecutive lots will be inspected.
  • Yes - Every other lot will be inspected rather than consecutive lots.
  • Random - A decision on which lot to skip (or which lot to inspect) is made randomly. The Skip Lot ratio, which is the number of accepted and rejected lot ratios to the number of lots inspected, is still maintained.
  • Consecutive Lot Accepted - Specify the number of consecutive lots that must be accepted before the state is changed.
  • Next State if Accepted - Select the state that the inspection will change to if the required number of accepted consecutive lots is met. For additional information on configuration, see Default States.
  • Consecutive Lot Rejected - Specify the number of consecutive lots that must be rejected before the state is changed.
  • Next State if Rejected - Select the state that the inspection will change to if the required number of rejected consecutive lots is met. For additional information on configuration, see Default States.
  • No Activity in - Specify the number of months that must pass in which there is no activity before the state is changed.
  • Change Current State to - Select the state that the inspection will change to if the required number of months in which there is no activity is met. For additional information on configuration, see Default States.
  1. Click the Save button.
    Result: The new sampling system has been added and the Detail of the sampling system is displayed.
